Been using it for 6 months now. The other 5.5 inch phone I used before this one couldn't handle bending and other forces. This phone is way more solid due to the edges of the screen being slightly rounded. The rest of the housing is solid too, but the battery can't be changed, which is a pity, but has not been a problem yet. The wooden back looks pretty and most people mistake it for real wood. The android installation is clean and fast. The touchscreen responsive. All apps function like a charm. Bluetooth and GPS work fine. Installing the SIM and micro SD was a bit of a hassle; the phone didn't seem to recognize the SIM at first. After that no further problems.

OPPO R9 Review- other confuguration

Photograph is always the key of OPPO series of phones, so I really expect what surprises OPPO R9 can bring to us.

It is said that such a brilliant front cam is almost equivalent with the back cam of most other smartphones.

Fingerprint

Fingerprint recognition has become a standard function of majorities of smartphones. But this module is big, so where to put it is a important problem for designers to consider. At present, there are three main positions: home button, on the back and power button. OPPO R9 chose the first one which costs least time to unlock. OPPO said the R9 just needs 0.2 sec( Huawei Honor 7i is 0.4 sec, Redmi Note3 is 0.3 sec).

ColorOS 3.0 system

R9 mounts ColorOS 3.0, which was also announced on the launch conference. According to the observation and statistics from OPPO, ColorOS3.0 owns over 70 millions users, and this brand-new 3.0 system is also a completely change!

Conclusion

Objectively speaking, OPPO R9 knows the ropes of how to avoid its weakness. VOOC flash charging and photography are OPPO ‘s proud technologies. The only regret is that VOOC super flash charging and anti-shake still haven’t applied, but this further arouse our interest to the Find 9.

Just judging from the product itself, OPPO R9 can be counted as a high-end phone. I think it is more like an artist than a device.

Unboxing OPPO R9

OPPO is known for its R7 series, and recently, the R9 was released, which also caught people’ eyes. But meanwhile, most of us curios whether it can be as popular as the R7. Let’s know more about this phone from unboxing.

When I grabbed OPPO R9, I was thrilled. Actually, I am using R7 which triggered a selfie wave in China, so I expected a lot from R9. It was packed into a white box. Simple package, but beautiful.

On the backside, it shows some information about the phone.

Picking off the cover, we can see OPPO R9 was sleeping peacefully. But sorry, I had to interrupt its sweet dream.

Under the phone, there were a card pin, a transparent phone cover, instruction and warranty card.

On the bottom, earphone, charger and data cable were well placed. They are all white and exquisite.

It inherited the highlight of R7- 5- minute charging gives 2 hour talking time. It’s VOOC fast charging technology is most advanced.

Now, we can see OPPO R9’s real face. It is in size of 151.8×74.3×6.6mm and weighs 145g. Designers increased the metal share of this phone, which is up to 98.02%.

It comes with a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen and offers 1080p resolution. This is the mainstream design, and well, the visual enjoy won’t be bad.

The waist line is light condensate, which is one of the selling points of OPPO R9. It means no matter you look at the phone from which angle, its waist always absorbs light to highlight its metal texture.

In addition, the frame is another selling point ( frame means the distance from screen line to phone border line). It has been narrow down to 1.66mm.

Fingerprint has been adopted by many other devices with similar price, but OPPO is different because they put it on the front side, which shortens power-on time- only 0.02 sec.

In conclusion, OPPO R9 comes with neat package, metal body is full of fashion, narrow frame and fast unlock make it better to hold. But we can feel familiar with this device because it looks pretty like the iPhone 6S.

OPPO R9 Review- fast charging technology & power lasting

Under OPPO R9’s gorgeous appearance, I am curios about its performance. Those who know something about OPPO ‘s previous models must realize that fast charging becomes its sign. R9 still remain the VOOC fast charging system. Just like their promotion words- 5- minute charging gives 2-hour talking time. From March, 2014 to now, over 18 million around the world are using this technology to reach faster charging.

The pictures below shows the total time OPPO R9 costed to finish charging, which is 46 minutes! Awesome!

Charging technology is always the advantage of OPPO,but I concern more about the power consumption situation. Let’s test via real operations. I started my test when it is 100% power.(pay attention to the time and power change on the top of the screenshot) Firstly, I watched drama for one hour and it consumed 9% power, so there was 91% left. After that, I continued my drama for another hour, and in total, it costed 17%, meaning I still had 83% power. Wow, we can say OPPO R9 is not only fast to charge, but also less to consume.

I felt visual fatigue after watching two-hour drama, so I changed to listen music when the phone had 81% power. I enjoyed music for a whole hour on my way to home, then I checked, it remained 75%. It only consumed about 6% to listen to songs for one hour!

Another thing I love to do is reading at my spare time, so I decided to see how the power lose when reading. Testing time was also one hour. Unbelievable! Only 3% was used.

I didn’t download any game at that time, so I didn’t test in this aspect. Finally, let’s see the situation when it is on resting state. I started at 22pm when the remained power was 68%. Until 7:02 of the next day, it still had 60%, which means OPPO R9 only consumed 8% in the last 9 hours.

Why Xiaomi Mi Max attracts global people’s attention? I think one of the major reasons is its largest screen in the history. But not all consumers buy its bills. Just imagine, 6.44 inch! That must be a very heavy and hard- to- hold phone. But what’s the real fact? Let’s see.

As soon as I touched Xiaomi MI Max, I changed my mind. It is not that strange as we imagined. Undoubtedly, it is bigger than iPhone 6s Plus- 7.5mm in thickness, weighing 203g which is just 11g heavier than iPhone 6s Plus. For most people, it would be difficult to hold with only one hand. But considering such a big screen, Mi Max did a good job on compression.

The backside adopts three-stage design and arc design, making it better to hold. The fingerprint is on back.
